Equine Influenza - most horses today are vaccinated against equine flu. It is a serious respiratory disease and may be fatal in youngsters. When contracted it causes a high temperature, a clear nasal discharge and coughing. Incubation period is from 3 to 4 days and recovery time about 3 weeks. Treatment includes prolonged rest with drug therapy. Recovered horses may sometimes be carriers. |
