Albino
Albino is a type of colouring which can occur in horses anywhere in the
world. However, in America Albinos are bred deliberately and through
selective breeding the Albino horse regularly occurs.
An Albino has pink skin, a pure white coat and often pale eyes.
Unfortunately there is often a price to pay for achieving Albino colour,
because the pale colour is produced through a congenital lack of
pigmentation in the skin. These horses often have poor or defective site and
suffer from sensitivity to the sun.
The American Albino is believed to descend from one sire named Old King who
was thought to contain Arab and Morgan blood. There is no particular 'type'
they occur in many different shapes and sizes.
