Trait Du Nord

A French horse of fairly recent origin from the same area as the Ardennais. Containing Ardennais, Boulonnais, Dutch Blood and especially Belgian Draft which fixed the breed in the latter part of the 19th Century. A bigger version of the Ardennais standing up to 16.1 hh (165cm) and a tonne in weight, with the same docile nature, strength and hardiness. Usually bay, roan or brown in colour and found from the north to the Loire Valley.
