Tchenarani

Bred in North Iran where it was developed from crossing Plateau stallions with Turkmene mares. The breed dates back over 2000 years, though it is not very often bred back to itself as the stock tends to deteriorate, so it is usually crossed with the different types of Plateau mares that appear to have Arab influence. For many years it has been a popular cavalry horse, as it is tough and wiry with plenty of stamina, similar to the other horses of this area. It also looks as if it is from Arab ancestry and stands at about 15h.h, with a lively temperament and a gentle nature it may be any solid colour.
