Karacabey

The native horse of Turkey bred from crossing the local mares with Nonius stallions.
It is a dual purpose horse, working equally well under saddle as in harness and makes a
good light draught and farm work. Originated at the Karacabey Stud, it was bred for many
years before coming under the control of the Turkish Government.
The breed is known for being an exceptional cavalry mount as it has an admirably calm temperament,
is quick to learn and is a willing worker. Standing at about 16.h.h. it may be any solid colour.
Today it is often crossed with Haflingers and Nonius horses making it more suitable for agricultural,
light draught and pack work.
