Lusitano

This is an ancient breed of obscure origin, though probably related to the
Andalusian, as its appearance is similar, with possibly Oriental blood also.
It is an intelligent, attractive, agile, courageous horse and was originally
used in the cavalry. The height is between 15. to 16h.h. and it is usually
grey with a fine wavy mane and tail. Today it is prized in the Portuguese
bull ring as the rejoneadores mount - for this purpose it must be highly
schooled in haute ecole, as the entire bull fight is carried out on horse
back.
For further details on breed conformation see the Andalusian.
