Einsiedler or Swiss Anglo-Norman

A close relative of the Anglo-Norman the Einsiedler is also known as the Swiss Anglo-Norman. Taking its name from the Stud, Kloster Einsiedeln, Switzerland where it was bred, it makes a good all round riding and driving horse and was particularly useful as a cavalry horse. Standing at between 15.3 and 16.2h.h. the breed may be any solid colour, though chestnut and bay are predominant.

A horse of generally good conformation; it has a quality, medium sized head, with expressive ears and intelligent eyes, a broad, deep, well muscled chest; a deep girth; high withers; powerful hind-quarters with a well set tail; the limbs are strong with well muscled gaskins and short cannons.
