Horsetail
Horsetail Poisoning caused by eating the plant, it contains an enzyme, which inactivates thiamine
(vitamin B1) and causes a deficiency. Symptoms progressive loss of condition and slow pulse.
Later the animal loses its belly and becomes tucked and hollow in the flanks.
The muscles begin to waste and eventually the animal reels as it walks and may have difficulty in turning.
The pulse becomes rapid and week, there is staggering, unnatural stance and in extreme cases difficulty
in getting up after rest. Severe muscular tremors develop, death is preceded. Treatment 50-100ml.
Thiamine.
